Biarritz were unable to follow suit at the Stade Charles Mathon so Sale head to the Basque Country on Saturday evening with a four-point lead and a quarter-final spot well within their grasp.
The Sharks know that a losing bonus point will be enough to take them through if Biarritz fail to score four tries, while even a loss by 23 points or less would also be enough as long as they do not allow Biarritz to score four tries or three more tries than them at the Parc des Sports Aguiléra.
A fourth try against the winless Warriors would have given them even more breathing space as they target a spot in the last eight for the first time since 2008 but Diamond was delighted with the outcome and performance regardless.
"I thought it was a good win, a very good win," said Diamond. "People are living in cloud cuckoo land if they think we can score four tries every week.
"We wanted the four points and we got them, so we top the group. We're happy with four points.
"We've played Worcester twice already and they have got a bit about them and they're improving every week. They're getting better as you saw. In the last 20 minutes of the first half they were the better team so I'm delighted with the win.
"In the last 10-15 minutes of the first half they were on our tryline as they were in the second half but we managed to stop them scoring and we're pleased with that."
